Konzumerismus

Consumerism

I painted this picture to show people in the form of an illustration how we contribute to the destruction of nature and the environment through our eternal shopping and the frequent changing of things around us. The devil dominating the image is an expression of the destruction that consumerism represents. The destruction that climbs and grows across the globe and destroys it at the same time. This destruction is expressed in the first plane of the painting, where on the left side you can see spreading garbage and just below it an oil slick, which results in the death of fish, birds and the whole of nature. In the tentacles (which look more like pipes) various chemicals flow, which we release into the water.

Approximately in the lower half of the picture there is a small church that seems to be surrounded by fog. I used the symbol of the church to express the spiritual side of life. I did not mean a specific church, but only faith. A faith that fills the soul, but which gradually disappears somewhere.
